Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, met with an Austrian group here on Thursday. The group was led by Austria’s Ambassador to India, Katharina Wieser.
At the meeting, people talked about the latest technologies and innovations in green technologies and building road infrastructure. Gadkari was told by representatives of Austrian companies about the many new technologies and products they were making.
Gadkari said that there are several ropeway and cable car projects going on in India. He praised the high quality of the ropeway and cable car parts made by Austrian companies and stressed the importance of working together to transfer the technology and make the same things in India.
He also asked Austrian companies to set up factories in India so that costs would go down overall.
There were also talks about other possible areas of cooperation, such as new technologies for building highways and tunnels, electronic toll systems, intelligent transportation systems, traffic management systems, green technologies, tunnel monitoring systems, and road safety.
The meeting paved the way for India and Austria to strengthen their ongoing partnership and work together on development projects to bring new ideas to the road transport sector and find good solutions to current problems in transportation and logistics.
Wieser also told Gadkari that he should come to Austria.
