Mukesh Ambani is an Indian business magnate and the chairman and largest shareholder of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), a conglomerate with interests in petrochemicals, refining, oil and gas exploration, telecommunications, and retail.
Mukesh Ambani was born on April 19, 1957, in Aden, Yemen, where his father was working at the time. He completed his education at the University of Bombay (now Mumbai) and later pursued an MBA from Stanford University.
Mukesh Ambani joined Reliance Industries in 1981 and took over as chairman and managing director in 2002 after the death of his father and the company’s founder, Dhirubhai Ambani. Under his leadership, Reliance Industries has grown into one of India’s largest and most profitable companies.
Mukesh Ambani is also known for his contributions to India’s telecommunications industry. In 2016, he launched Reliance Jio, a 4G mobile network that disrupted the market with its low prices and free voice calls. Reliance Jio has since become one of the largest mobile networks in India, with over 400 million subscribers.
Apart from his business ventures, Mukesh Ambani is also a philanthropist and has supported various social causes through the Reliance Foundation. He has been honored with several awards and accolades for his contributions to the business world and society, including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2000 and the Fortune Global Leadership Award in 2014.
