A ‘enthusiastic’ Apple CEO Tim Cook launched the country’s first branded retail store to a massive audience and first customers amid desi drum beat. Cook grabbed pictures with the first Apple buyers in Mumbai.
At Jio World Drive Mall in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) business, arts, and entertainment sector, he welcomed customers at Apple BKC. Apple’s expansion will be fueled by its new flagship stores in Mumbai and New Delhi and aggressive sales tactics.
“Apple BKC is a reflection of Mumbai’s vibrant culture and brings together the best of Apple in a beautiful, welcoming space for connection and community,” said Apple Retail senior vice president Deirdre O’Brien. From Tuesday until summer, Apple BKC will air ‘Mumbai Rising’ on Today at Apple.hese free Apple events will promote the local community and culture with hands-on activities for visitors, local artists, and creatives. Apple BKC is one of the most energy-efficient Apple Stores in the world, with a specialised solar array and no fossil fuels.
100% renewable energy powers the store’s carbon neutrality. The ceiling has 1,000 tiles manufactured from 408 timber pieces, each with 31 modules. Delhi assembled 450,000 timber components. Customers enter the store through two Rajasthani stone walls and a 14-meter stainless steel stairway to the cantilevered mezzanine. Over 100 Apple BKC employees speak over 20 languages.
