There are approximately 19,546 children living on the streets in the country, according to the most recent data provided by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Among these children, 10,401 children are living with their families while they are living on the streets. 8,263 youngsters spend the daytime hours living on the streets, but when night falls, they return to their family, who live in slums in the surrounding area. According to the findings of the research, there are currently 882 youngsters who are without parental care and are living independently on the streets.
Smriti Irani, India’s Minister for Women and Child Development, presented information obtained from the Bal Swaraj portal, which compiles an inventory of children living on the streets across the nation.
